Sisters and long time educators, Claire Smith and Hannah Harper, founded Austin Play Garden in 2014. The idea to open a school for the Austin community came from their experiences in child care, public schools and working with families in general. They believe that early childhood is the most important time developmentally in a person’s life. The goal is to create a school that combines high quality educators with an environment that offers development equal to the standards met for any other time in a student’s life.

The Mission of Austin Play Garden is to create a preschool where children can grow and learn. We believe that nurturing relationships are the foundation for positive learning experiences. We endeavor to foster independence while creating an environment where students feel safe and become contributing members of our school family.
